Adversarial training is a min-max optimization problem that is designed to construct robust classifiers against adversarial perturbations of data. We study three models of adversarial training in the multiclass agnostic-classifier setting. We prove the existence of Borel measurable robust classifiers in each model and provide a unified perspective of the adversarial training problem, expanding the connections with optimal transport initiated by the authors in their previous work [21]. In addition, we develop new connections between adversarial training in the multiclass setting and total variation regularization. As a corollary of our results, we provide an alternative proof of the existence of Borel measurable solutions to the agnostic adversarial training problem in the binary classification setting.

In this short note, we prove that on the three-sphere with any bumpy metric there exist at least two pairs of solutions of the Allen–Cahn equation with spherical interface and index at most two. The proof combines several recent results from the literature.

In this paper, some min–max theorems for even and C1 functionals established by Ghoussoub are extended to the case of functionals that are the sum of a locally Lipschitz continuous, even term and a convex, proper, lower semi-continuous, even function. A class of non-smooth functionals admitting an unbounded sequence of critical values is also pointed out.

We prove that, for every bounded and measurable forcing $p(t)$, the differential equation $\ddot{u}+u^{1/3} =p(t)$ has bounded solutions with arbitrarily large amplitude. In general it is not possible to say that all solutions are bounded, as shown by an example due to Littlewood.

The proof is based on a variational method which can be seen as a dual version of Nehari's method for boundary value problems on compact intervals.
