This paper deals with the exponential separation of type II, an important concept for random systems of differential equations with delay, introduced in Mierczyński et al. [18]. Two different approaches to its existence are presented. The state space X will be a separable ordered Banach space with $\dim X\geq 2$, dual space $X^{*}$, and positive cone $X^+$ normal and reproducing. In both cases, appropriate cooperativity and irreducibility conditions are assumed to provide a family of generalized Floquet subspaces. If in addition $X^*$ is also separable, one obtains an exponential separation of type II. When this is not the case, but there is an Oseledets decomposition for the continuous semiflow, the same result holds. Detailed examples are given for all the situations, including also a case where the cone is not normal.

A theorem of Ostrowski implies that $\log \left( x \right),\,\log \left( x+1 \right),\,.\,.\,.$ are algebraically independent over $\mathbb{C}\left( x \right)$. More generally, for a linear differential or difference equation, it is an important problem to find all algebraic dependencies among a non-zero solution $y$ and particular transformations of $y$, such as derivatives of $y$ with respect to parameters, shifts of the arguments, rescaling, etc. In this paper, we develop a theory of Tannakian categories with semigroup actions, which will be used to attack such questions in full generality, as each linear differential equation gives rise to a Tannakian category. Deligne studied actions of braid groups on categories and obtained a finite collection of axioms that characterizes such actions to apply them to various geometric constructions. In this paper, we find a finite set of axioms that characterizes actions of semigroups that are finite free products of semigroups of the form ${{\mathbb{N}}^{n}}\,\times \,\mathbb{Z}/{{n}_{1}}\mathbb{Z}\,\times \,.\,.\,.\,\mathbb{Z}/{{n}_{r}}\mathbb{Z}$ on Tannakian categories. This is the class of semigroups that appear in many applications.

We prove that for the linear scalar delay differential equation

with non-negative periodic coefficients of period $p\,>\,0$, the stability threshold for the trivial solution is $r\,:=\int_{0}^{p}{\left( b\left( t \right)-a\left( t \right) \right)}dt\,=\,0$, assuming that $b\left( t+1 \right)-a\left( t \right)$ does not change its sign. By constructing a class of explicit examples, we show the counter-intuitive result that, in general, $r\,=\,0$ is not a stability threshold.

In this paper, we apply the collocation methods to a class of Volterra integral functional equations with multiple proportional delays (VIFEMPDs). We shall present the existence, uniqueness and regularity properties of analytic solutions for this type of equations, and then analyze the convergence orders of the collocation solutions and give corresponding error estimates. The numerical results verify our theoretical analysis.

This paper studies the problem of delay-dependent robust H∞ control for singular systems with multiple delays. Based on a Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional approach, an improved delay-dependent bounded real lemma (BRL) for singular time-delay systems is established without using any of the model transformations and bounding techniques on the cross product terms. Then, by applying the obtained BRL, a delay-dependent condition for the existence of a robust state feedback controller, which guarantees that the closed-loop system is regular, impulse free, robustly stable and satisfies a prescribed H∞ performance index, is proposed in terms of a nonlinear matrix inequality. The explicit expression for the H∞ controller is designed by using linear matrix inequalities and the cone complementarity iterative linearization algorithm. Numerical examples are also given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
