Let us next turn to the postulated subglacial rivers. How can we conceive of tunnels of ice 100 miles long runninginone direction, 300 feet high, and only 20 or 30 paces wide? The difficulty about the provenance of the stones, again, is equally great or even greater, and more insurmountable in such a case than it would be in the case already cited.
