Environmental Data Science - an open-access journal at Cambridge University Press - is delighted to act as the publishing partner for the Climate Informatics Conference. This page contains information for authors participating in the CI2025 Conference in Brazil, which takes place April 28-April 30 2025.
CI 2025 full papers
Authors of full papers accepted into CI 2025 have the option of publishing their work as part of a special collection (virtual special issue) dedicated to the event. We operate an integrated Conference > Journal review model, which means that the reviews performed for conference count towards the EDS process. EDS will perform administrative, publishing ethics and final editorial check of the paper, but will not seek further reviews unless the Editor-in-Chief deems it necessary. This means that authors can expect quite rapid publication.
Interested authors should do the following:
- Submit via the EDS ScholarOne system, choosing the most appropriate article type for your paper.
- Please declare in the Cover Letter space whether your article has been modified substantially since the conference and provide a marked-up file with your submission to illustrate any changes.
- If your article was written in LaTeX, we recommend uploading a PDF version as the main document and the source files in a zip folder with the 'LaTeX/TeX Files' designation.
- In your text, include an impact statement (120 words) beneath the abstract, and an author contributions statement, a competing interest statement, a funding statement and a data availability statement at the end of the main text ahead of the references. (See this information about disclosure statements if you are unsure about this). Also include a provenance statement at the end of the main text ahead of the references, reading "This article is part of the Climate Informatics 2025 proceedings and was accepted in Environmental Data Science on the basis of the Climate Informatics peer review process."
- Choose 'Climate Informatics 2025' when prompted by the question in the submission form about whether the article belongs to a special collection.
Deadline: Upload your article by 30 June 2025, unless you plan to extend it, in which case aim for the same 31 October 2025 deadline as the abstract authors. The earlier you upload the article, the earlier it will be published. Articles will be added to a special collection page for the conference.
CI 2025 abstracts
Authors of abstracts accepted into CI 2025 are encouraged to develop their articles into full papers for peer review and potential publication in EDS.
Interested authors should:
- Consider the standard EDS article types and decide which one is most relevant to their work.
- Follow the EDS Guidelines on article preparation (Word, LaTeX and Overleaf templates are available).
- Incorporate a provenance statement at the end of the main text ahead of the references (alongside the other standard disclosure statements) that reads: "Provenance: This article has been developed from an abstract accepted into Climate Informatics 2025 to be reviewed according to the standard Environmental Data Science process."
- Submit via the EDS ScholarOne site and choose 'Climate Informatics 2025' when prompted by the question in the submission form about whether the article belongs to a special collection.
Deadline: 31 October 2025 but earlier submission could result in earlier publication.
Open Access
Any author can publish on an open access basis in EDS if accepted, irrespective of their funding situation or institutional affiliation. There are no financial barriers to publication. Many articles have publishing costs covered through the Transformative Agreements that Cambridge has set up with universities worldwide. If the corresponding author on an article is affiliated with a Transformative Agreement this effectively covers publishing costs. Authors not affiliated with these agreements who have received a grant that budgets for open access publication are encouraged to pay an article processing charge (APC). However, if an author has no funding and no institutional agreement, the charge will be waived. Please do not let concerns about your financial situation or affiliation put off your submission.
Open Materials
Authors are asked to make code and data that supports the findings openly available in a recognised repository and to link to them in the Data Availability Statement in the article. We recognise this may not be possible in all circumstances. See the EDS Research Transparency policy. Open Data and Open Materials badges will be displayed on published articles that link to replication materials, as a recognition of open practices.
