Phil. 13, 7) that the puzzling reliquit, at the end of a quotation of a hexameter of Cicero, is nothing but a wrong expansion of the symbol reliq. (or reli or rel or rl), a symbol like our ‘etc.,’ used by medieval scribes to indicate that a quatation was left incomplete. It really denotes reliqua, not reliquit.
